Checkered Red Skirt & Heattech

Heattech Turtleneck | Uniqlo
Checkered Midi Skirt | Thrift
Cat Eye Sunglasses | Kate Spade
B&W Pumps | Schutz
(leopard version here)

I have been wearing a FitBit as a bit of a New Year’s resolution, and I never realized...how UNFIT I was!! Eek! So now I walk every chance I get. I get water more often, which in turn makes me need to pee more often. I guess that’s what you call a win-win..?

I couldn’t take photos this weekend, because it started to snow, and unlike those admirable bloggers who take photos in the snow, I cannot achieve such a feat. Every photo would be blurry, because A) I’d be shivering, and B) Chris would be shivering.

So I decided to release some old photos that I really love but never found the time to publish. I really love the 2nd photo in this post. I have tried time and time again to redo this exact expression, because I feel like it is my personal “Blue Steel,” but haven't been able to :( Anyway, this outfit was a staple of mine until the weather got too cold to wear it. The heattech turtleneck kept me warm in the igloo we call an office, but the skirt gave me room to eat/snack at my desk. It’s too bad it’s too cold to wear now, but I can’t wait to wear another rendition of this for spring!!!

Love it to the Max(i)

Old reliable: The Outnet. Everything I buy from the Outnet makes me look and feel amazing.

It's been over 3 years since I started buying from the Outnet, and I've loved every piece from them.
I used to buy a ton of pieces from fast fashion stores like H&M or Zara, but after thrifting vintage pieces and gently used designer brands, I realized I needed to invest in "lifetime" pieces. Pieces I know that will last me this lifetime.

This ensemble is the perfect example! The Oxford button down is a staple everyone should have in their closet. Its versatility lends itself to business functions paired with a pencil skirt or brunch with a good pair of jeans.

Same applies for the skirt. I originally dreamt of walking on sandy beaches with this skirt, but as I have no vacations planned, it was right at home for a nice dinner date instead. To be honest, I felt exposed, because it felt like I was wearing nothing below the waist! That's how lightweight and breezy it is, but I know I'll be thankful the moment our weather hits 100 degrees and the humidity index is 90+. Maybe after my overnight oat diet, I'll be able to wear this with a crop top on a nice summer weekend!

Sky Blue Prints + Instax Mini Fun

I do apologize for the lack of updates. Work has unfortunately been the culprit for the black hole that was once known as Dear Sunny. Between business trips, back to back birthdays, and countless, endless snowstorms that could technically be considered one very long snowstorm, I finally got out to take some photos and play with my Fujifilm Instax Mini 8!

I love mixing prints....is something I never imagined myself saying. I used to avoid them thinking they accented every flaw I tried to hide. But I realized, as always, it's all about how you piece the trends together, and I love how I put these blue toned prints together! I tried to keep the color palette cohesive to bring some balance to the prints. I think it's a great way to try prints out without jumping into the deep end, plus it's work appropriate which is a plus in my book!

I had so much fun taking polaroids that I got sidetracked and didn't take too many outfit photos.

But do not fear, I have some awesome outfits up my sleeve for the coming weeks leading up to Mother's Day including a really unique gift for your best friend:
your mom :)

Are you excited for some DIYs and spring inspired outfits?

Garden State Wallpaper Skirt

Who's a sucker for big skirts, big prints, and has two thumbs? This girl!

When I was thrifting, I saw this big, bright print and knew I couldn't pass it up. It could be overwhelming at first glance because of its length and loud print. Especially if the first thought that comes to mind is the scene where Zach Braff stands in front of a wall of the exact same pattern as his shirt in the movie, Garden State. Yet when paired with timeless classics like a white button-down, simple gold jewelry, and pointed-toe pumps, the calf length dress comes across as soft and subtle.

I love all things retro, vintage, and thrifted so this skirt with its big silhouette and retro print didn't deter me! Plus, even though I live in NJ, I don't live in a house with wallpaper of this print so I didn't worry about recreating the Garden State scene haha

This skirt was a good reminder of why I love thrifting. Because I find gems like these. You'll never find a skirt this in stores these days without giving up one month's rent. It's long with a matching lining and has an amazing print that's both whimsical and pretty.

It's classic, but never boring ;)

The manfriend kept making me laugh and ended up taking this candid.
I look so stupid, but sometimes the least flattering photos are the most memorable :)

Red Scarf & Camel Accents

Keeping this post, short and sweet! Like me! I know, I know. You're trying to hold back the urge to vomit now. I'll stop haha

I didn't get much light this weekend, because it rained and sleeted for most of it! I rummaged through my bank of outfits photos I haven't shared with you yet, and decided on this little one, because it shows you my love of scarves. This one is one of my favorites. It's not a name brand. It's not some upscale material like cashmere or silk. It gets caught on everything, but I love it. It was the first scarf I truly loved. It has a beautiful monochromatic color scheme, with a pattern to liven it up. When I'm in just jeans and a T, once I throw this on, I just feel like the chicest girl in town. I know, ridiculous, right? But it just somehow gives me confidence out of nowhere!

The things clothing can do for a person are boundless. It can give you the ability to do amazing things. I love that simple things such as a scarf from a street vendor could be worth more to me than a brand name luxury bag.

Sweater Cape + Cyber Monday!

I don't know why, but I instantly thought "Kim Kardashian" when I saw this photo of myself hahah
Sweater Cape / Echo Design (thrifted NWT!)
Long sleeve / Uniqlo Heattech<3
Knitted Skirt / H&M (old)
Heels / BCBG Paris
This thing is ridiculously warm. I just never take it off, because whenever I do, I look like a frizzy, frazzled static-y ball of hair. But wearing it also gives me a chance to do the infamous hair tuck I always see other bloggers do! I get why they do it. It looks cool, keeps your hair in place, and your hair helps keep you warm in those windy urban cities!

And happy Cyber Monday! Are you guys excited for any specific sales? I always love checking out Net-A-Porter's annual sale and then actually buy from its sister site, theOutnet, which usually starts its clearance sale around this time. I'm also looking for some good weather proof tan leather boots. Any ideas?

Camels + Jeans

Jacket / W118 by Walter Baker
(Was $198, got it for $39!!!)
Chambray / Zara
Waffle Sweater / J.Crew
Necklace / Thrifted
Scarf / Thrifted
Jeans / Uniqlo
Suede Boots / Steve Madden
It's turning ridiculously cold so I finally got the chance to use this trench I bought a year ago!
(Thank you, Outnet Clearance Gods <3)

I have this tendency to keep an outfit neutral, but adding a pop of color via scarf/lip color. This outfit is no different. I love how complimentary the jean and camel tones were, but had to add a bit of color chaos with this bright pink lip from Sephora!

What's funny is, since starting this blog, yes, I have definitely started spending more. But a lot of the pieces seen on this blog are old. This waffle crewneck sweater from J.Crew is from easily 3 years ago. That chambray top is from Zara more than 5 years ago. Those boots? Easily 6 (although, I had to get them resoled so they weren't completely dead). Did you guys find yourself spending more in the beginning because of the blog? Do you still do?
