Storm Jonas: Wool Dress Over Maroon Tights

Pink Paisley Button down | Equipment
Navy Blue Wool Dress | Club Monaco
Maroon Tights | Japan
Pink Pointed Toe Flats | Jessica Simpson

Please please please tell me there are Galavant fans out there. The Monty Python-esque show was laugh out loud funny this past Sunday. I laughed so hard that Chris complained he couldn't hear the TV over me XD

Ok, enough about my super healthy binge watching habits. New Jersey was hit with Storm Jonas. It was so pretty! ...until I had to shovel/tunnel out of the house Sunday...just to get to my car! I am sore all over, even though I had proper "shoveling posture". So another one from the "backlog of outfits" vault!

I'm guilty of this all the time: tights under dresses during the winter months. I have no idea why I think I'll be any warmer, but I do it, and then instantly regret it once I get outside, but can't go back inside to change or else I'll be late. Yah...but at least this dress is wool so it tends to keep me snug and warm. Yay!

Checkered Red Skirt & Heattech

Heattech Turtleneck | Uniqlo
Checkered Midi Skirt | Thrift
Cat Eye Sunglasses | Kate Spade
B&W Pumps | Schutz
(leopard version here)

I have been wearing a FitBit as a bit of a New Year’s resolution, and I never realized...how UNFIT I was!! Eek! So now I walk every chance I get. I get water more often, which in turn makes me need to pee more often. I guess that’s what you call a win-win..?

I couldn’t take photos this weekend, because it started to snow, and unlike those admirable bloggers who take photos in the snow, I cannot achieve such a feat. Every photo would be blurry, because A) I’d be shivering, and B) Chris would be shivering.

So I decided to release some old photos that I really love but never found the time to publish. I really love the 2nd photo in this post. I have tried time and time again to redo this exact expression, because I feel like it is my personal “Blue Steel,” but haven't been able to :( Anyway, this outfit was a staple of mine until the weather got too cold to wear it. The heattech turtleneck kept me warm in the igloo we call an office, but the skirt gave me room to eat/snack at my desk. It’s too bad it’s too cold to wear now, but I can’t wait to wear another rendition of this for spring!!!

Holiday Dress Remix: Office Appropriate

Faux Leather Panel Red Skater Dress | Zara
Thick Jersey Circle Skirt | Asos
Cat Eye Sunglasses | Kate Spade
Ruby MC Mini | Strathberry

Ok, I’ve been binging Galavant. I downloaded the first season for free on iTunes, after seeing one of my favorite actors in its commercials (freaking love Timothy Omundson and his singing). Since then, I’ve played the soundtrack on repeat! (the songs are ridiculously catchy and get stuck in your head, beware!!!)

So in between binge watching and the frigid cold, I’ve been gearing towards fun outfits that don’t freeze me to death and still wear to work (aka no jeans L) I decided to get more wear out of the dresses I bought this holiday season. Best part? To make them office appropriate, I layered the heck out of them!

Do you know what a button down under a dress looks like? Awesome. That’s what XD I paired a button down with my sleeveless red dress and added a thick grey skirt to make the redness of the dress an accent color rather than the grounding piece of the outfit. Add some statement accessories, and it goes from office to date night. Awesome x2.

LACMA OOTD: Boutique 1861

Vine Fit & Flare Dress | Boutique 1861
Gold Necklace | Jewels by Maya
Cat Eye Sunglasses | Kate Spade
B&W Pumps | Schutz
(leopard version here)

I am deciding right here, right now. Every time I visit LA, I will stop by LACMA. I always find something new that inspires me or captures my imagination. The best part? LA residents get free entry to LACMA while all visitors receive free entry into the museum the first Tuesday of every month.

I decided an easy outfit was necessary for hours of walking. The dress's fit and flare cut made it easy to move around in. I loved the interchanging vine and rope details; it kept the dress from being boring without being overwhelming. It’s one of my most worn pieces from Boutique 1861, because its casual nature gives me so many chances to wear it!

I still love my other pieces, but the houndstooth midi dress was formal for a day at the museum, while the mini shift was a bit restricting. This dress is right in the middle perfect. I would have even worn it this New Year’s if it hadn’t been freezing cold! Am I the only one missing 60 degree weather in December?!
