Magazine Feature | Brocade Simplicity

Normally, I go right into my outfit posts. Today is different.

I would like to announce a project mentioned in my Tour through Blogland post: my first magazine feature.
You can read the whole article here.

I want to thank Victoria for the amazing writing and this incredible opportunity with Cliche Magazine (that has still left me a bit shell shocked). She makes me sound like a real big-time blogger!

I've been meaning to spill the beans about this for awhile, but am finally able to share it with you guys. New year, new (& great) beginnings. Thank you all for being so welcoming, supportive, and inspirational. It has given me the courage to do things I've only dreamed about.

*** We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming ***

Cable knit turtleneck | Ralph Lauren (thrifted)
Pleated brocade skirt | UO (old)
Silver heels | BCBG
Spike necklace | Baublebar (gifted by Simone)

It was raining all weekend that I was worried I wouldn't get outfit photos for you this Monday! When the rain finally stopped, I hustled manfriend and me out the door. I wanted something that would display and complement my Secret Santa necklace and still comfy. It was surprisingly warm after the rain so I took advantage and changed up the outfit last minute for this brocade skirt. I love the colors, because I think the light blue/gold match the necklace very well.

I love the coziness of this sweater. It makes any outfit instantly more comfy casual.

Sweater Cape + Cyber Monday!

I don't know why, but I instantly thought "Kim Kardashian" when I saw this photo of myself hahah
Sweater Cape / Echo Design (thrifted NWT!)
Long sleeve / Uniqlo Heattech<3
Knitted Skirt / H&M (old)
Heels / BCBG Paris
This thing is ridiculously warm. I just never take it off, because whenever I do, I look like a frizzy, frazzled static-y ball of hair. But wearing it also gives me a chance to do the infamous hair tuck I always see other bloggers do! I get why they do it. It looks cool, keeps your hair in place, and your hair helps keep you warm in those windy urban cities!

And happy Cyber Monday! Are you guys excited for any specific sales? I always love checking out Net-A-Porter's annual sale and then actually buy from its sister site, theOutnet, which usually starts its clearance sale around this time. I'm also looking for some good weather proof tan leather boots. Any ideas?

Pumpkin Patches come Alive!

Top / F21
Skirt / J. Crew
Clutch / Tory Burch
Pumps / BCBG Paris
Cashmere Cardigan / Thrifted

The sun sets by the time I finish taking photos these days so it gets a bit chilly. I threw on this cashmere cardigan to keep me warm. It's the first thing I grab nowadays with the sun setting earlier and the evenings getting chillier. When I first bought this pumpkin orange cashmere cardigan, I didn't know what I'd pair with this bright color. All I knew was its ridiculous softness could save me from winter's harsh weather....and make me look like a fuzzy pumpkin! Especially with the green skirt, I look like a pumpkin patch turned human! :X Potential Halloween costume? Maybe out of my love for HIMYM, I'll be a slutty pumpkin. Maybe :P

Real elegance is in the mind

Real elegance is in the mind. It isn't determined by how much you spend, or how new your clothes are.
It is the way a person views themselves, and how they carry themselves on a daily basis.

Floral cloth corset / Stradivarius
Pink skirt / Vintage
Silver pumps / BCBG Paris (find it here)
Earrings / Kate Spade (similar here)

Clothing doesn't change a person, but can change how they view themselves. Old trends become new when a designer views it in a new way. People change their views of others when they change the way they dress. It can make some women feel sexy with the right LBD while others feel they can conquer the world with a pair of heels.

The power of clothing is amazing, and I am in awe of it each and every day.
