WIP: Shoulder Grazing Top & Pants

Off the Shoulder Dress | F21 (worn as top)
Grey Jeggings | H&M
Tan Booties | No Brand
Cashmere Scarf | Burberry

I am my very own work in progress. I want to honestly be body positive so the first step is to put myself in situations I find uncomfortable. It's like the first time I put on makeup. It looked foreign to me. Unnatural almost. Most of all, I thought I looked hideous! I didn't touch makeup until years later. I eased in slowly with tinted lip balm then slowly transitioned to eye liner and finally, a little blush, bronzer, and a cat eye with some eye shadow.

The point of the story is I need to slowly ease myself into the idea of pants. I'm not used to seeing myself in pants. And that's why I promised myself more pant-centric outfits.

So here is my second official pant related outfit of the season! I paired tan booties (which I love) and a new off-the-shoulder dress from F21 that I'm using as a top. I topped it off with my Burberry cashmere scarf to keep warm since mornings are still quite brisk!

Lady in Red

I am starting to get into the holiday spirit. No, not the Christmas holiday spirit (even though this outfit IS perfect for a warm winter night). I am starting to get excited for Halloween! I'm planning on making cookies, chocolates, and a few fun treats for my office. If I can, I'm going to make things in advance and take photos for you. Yayy!

Now onto the outfit: this is my favorite skirt from my mother. It's something I would never reach for in the store, but looks perfect on me. Every time I put this skirt on, it feels like I'm shopping with my mom again. And like always, she picks out the perfect piece for me despite my initial apprehension.

She is probably one of the main reasons I veer towards romantic, vintage styles. She was sensible, modest, yet fashionable. (I seriously need to upload vintage photos of her!)  Here's to an amazing woman, and her impeccable fashion sense.

Old Standards, New Habits

I have been pretty vocal about my aversion to pants (evident by my 9 pant-ish outfits versus the remaining 49 skirt-related outfits). I love pant related outfits, but I don't find them as flattering on my body type as say a midi skirt. But in this day and age, I find it hard to believe I still hold myself to some very old standards of beauty, and I want to break that.

The only way to break a bad habit is to start practicing a better one so here is the first of many pant-related outfits to come (hopefully).

My transition to pant outfits will start with elements I'm comfortable with: turtlenecks and hats. I love the coziness a turtleneck lends to an outfit. While hats or headpieces make outfits go from plain Jane to fancy Nancy! These pieces will be the cornerstone of my pant outfits until I'm ready to ween myself off of them, and stand proudly in a lone tee and jeans.

Oh, and please ignore the weird hand I've got going in this pic. Thanks :)
