     No big post today since I've been so busy.

     I just wanted to wear something more "work appropriate" without being boring. I like to throw stripes or polka dots in whenever I want a print that's not too loud. They're also super easy to pair with basics like a skirt (circle or pencil) and blazer.

    Anyway, I'm seriously enjoying the sun these days. So much so that I've already started planning vacations to far off places months in advance. The warm weather makes me think I can go anywhere! I'm already planning to go to the lavender fields in upstate NY for my birthday in June. Who knows what else. Do you guys have any ideas?? I'd love to hear what you guys have planned!

The Brunch Bunch

I seriously love my sales. They are my chance to splurge on an item, especially one that I believe will be a "forever item," something I can use for years to come. I always look out for Net-A-Porter and the Outnet's semi-annual sales, because I have found the products they carry to be of amazing quality (and usually at the same price as Macy's or Lord & Taylor's!). That's how I snagged some of the best pieces in my closet ;)

     So you're wondering which of these pieces is from such a sale? Almost half the outfit! The trench is from an Outnet sale two years ago, and the skirt is from last year. I've already gushed about the trench coat here and here, so I'll move on to the skirt.

     It is literally the most supple leather I've ever felt. I never understood how leather was considered comfortable; that is, until I wore this skirt. It is as comfortable, if not more so, than your most comfortable pair of ..wait for it.. sweatpants. Because unlike Ross's leather pants on that episode of Friends, this skirt is breathable.

     To top it off, this outfit is Mother's Day appropriate. It's perfect for brunch out with your mom. The pencil skirt and trench coat are a classic combo, but the leather skirt gives it a bit of edge; perfect for a girls' day/brunch!

1 Sweater Dress | 3 Ways

Like I said in yesterday's post, I have a few rules for myself when I go shopping. I sit on an item for a week or two to ensure I love it (& still remember it!). I also review my monthly budget using the Mint app. Lastly, I imagine a minimum of 3 new outfits using pieces already found in my closet. To show you what I mean, I've taken a simple black sweater dress aka my winter LBD, and styled it 3 ways for the cold weather.

I thought this outfit was perfect for a warmer winter day when you have a special dinner or date ;) It's cozy, but still girly with the full skater skirt. What I love about this concept is any girl can take this outfit and make it their own. Choose a different color sweater, a different skirt length, or different accessories to make it comfortable for herself.

I'm not the type to reach for jeans on a casual day, but I can't help but love this look. It's casual; it's comfortable; it's easy to recreate, and completely practical. The puffer jacket adds warmth on colder days, and helps to hide any holiday weight gain you haven't lost at the gym yet! To make it a "me" outfit, I added a feminine touch via the small purse and tucked the jeans under the heel strap. It's my favorite combo, feminine but boyish....
...if that even makes sense.

The last question I ask myself before every purchase is 'can I style this for a work outfit?' 75% of my wardrobe is based off of this question since 5 days of the week are spent in the office. I won't buy something I can't wear 70% of the year; that's ridiculous! So to make this sweater dress more work appropriate, I add opaque tights, knee high boots, a blazer, and my new favorite go-to bag in a beautiful neutral.

I am shameless. When I love something, I tend to abuse it.

That new favorite song of mine? Blasting on repeat all day.

That new favorite dish of mine? Eating it 3 meals a day, every day.

That new necklace I got? Wearing it with every outfit, even if it clashes.

That about sums up what's happening with this trench coat. Don't be surprised to see it in every post for this month...I'm shameless. Or have I found a new reason to shop? Diversify that coat closet..yes..

I can't wait for Thanksgiving (& all the sales it brings)! It's a fun time for me to relax, reconnect with old friends, and bake something for the annual dinner with family friends. I usually do a Japanese inspired pineapple cheesecake. It's light in flavor and sweetness, and tastes like pineapple cake/鳳梨酥！

It's turning ridiculously cold so I finally got the chance to use this trench I bought a year ago!

I have this tendency to keep an outfit neutral, but adding a pop of color via scarf/lip color. This outfit is no different. I love how complimentary the jean and camel tones were, but had to add a bit of color chaos with this bright pink lip from Sephora!

What's funny is, since starting this blog, yes, I have definitely started spending more. But a lot of the pieces seen on this blog are old. This waffle crewneck sweater from J.Crew is from easily 3 years ago. That chambray top is from Zara more than 5 years ago. Those boots? Easily 6 (although, I had to get them resoled so they weren't completely dead). Did you guys find yourself spending more in the beginning because of the blog? Do you still do?
