Holiday Look: Twirling Tullle Outfit from Eshakti

Sleeveless Red Top | Armani
Tulle Skirt | Eshakti
Black & Gold Necklace | Vintage
Clear Perspex Clutch | DIY
Silver Pumps | BCBG

I seem to fall more in love with Eshakti with each order. I actually ordered this skirt with really really ridiculously low hopes. I saw the typical tulle skirt and wanted it so bad. But I couldn't justify the high price tag so I decided to snatch up a tulle skirt from Eshakti. It didn't look poofy like other skirts so I was worried I'd hate it, which in retrospect seems silly because I should have known that I will love literally everything I get from Eshakti.

When the skirt came in, I put it on and just swooshed left to right for 5 minutes (I was too preoccupied to notice Chris giving me a weird look from across the room). It wasn't poofy, but it was still light and airy and just as magical.

After pairing it with a vibrant red top, I decided to wear it to my family Christmas dinner. It's got elastic in the back of the skirt for that extra helping of food. The tulle gives it a little extra something special, perfect for the holidays. It's so much fun that I can't wait to re-debut it for NYE!!!

Burning Orange Maxi

Sweater | Ralph Lauren (thrifted)
Dress | Forever 21 (worn as a skirt)
Fringe Bag | H&M
Leather Boots | Asos
Gold Cuff | Vintage

I originally had a fear of maxi dresses, midi dresses, A-line dresses...Let's start over; I had a lot of fashion fears. This blog pushes me to try new things; walk outside of my comfort zone. As easy as jeans and a tee are, I want to keep my readers inspired and encourage you to do the same.

When maxi skirts and dresses first came out, I didn't dare go near them. I kept imagining myself being swallowed alive by the fabric, tripping all over myself, and swearing like a sailor all the way down to the ground.
I cringe at the thought.

One day, while browsing through my daily fashion blog reel, someone posted an outfit of herself in a maxi dress. She looked like a modern day Grecian goddess who looked right at home between towering skyscrapers and over-sized sunglasses. I attributed this to her height. I thought "anything looks good on a girl who is 6 feet tall whose legs go on for miles." Not long after, maxi skirts started popping up all over, and they looked good on everyone!

I figured let me buy an inexpensive maxi dress, and experiment with it. If it worked out, then yay for me! If it didn't, then I wouldn't be too put out. Not only did I luck out with a beautiful burnt orange, the dress also came with adjustable straps so I could get away with flats some days.

Although maxis are associated with sunny beaches and palm trees, they are just as season appropriate on Jersey's coldest winter days. Just throw a chunky knit sweater or turtleneck as I did, and some ankle boots with thick knit socks, and you're ready to take on this 'winter wonderland' ;)

Last ray of summer flowers

Who doesn't fight trees?

Dress / Boutique in Shanghai
Necklace / Vintage
Earrings / Kate Spade
Shoes / Aldo (old)

These days, I'm taking the time to run around and soak up the sun while I still can. The sun's been staying out later and later, making it seem like there's more than 24 hours in a day. This summer has been cool but sunny for the most part, and I couldn't be happier about it!

But fall is actually my favorite season. There's just a slight breeze warranting you to break out that cozy knit you got from last year's Net-A-Porter sale. Fall gives me the drive to find new uses for my favorite summer dresses in chillier weather like pairing them with cozy knits or structured blazers. So stay tuned for more!

Real elegance is in the mind

Real elegance is in the mind. It isn't determined by how much you spend, or how new your clothes are.
It is the way a person views themselves, and how they carry themselves on a daily basis.

Floral cloth corset / Stradivarius
Pink skirt / Vintage
Silver pumps / BCBG Paris (find it here)
Earrings / Kate Spade (similar here)

Clothing doesn't change a person, but can change how they view themselves. Old trends become new when a designer views it in a new way. People change their views of others when they change the way they dress. It can make some women feel sexy with the right LBD while others feel they can conquer the world with a pair of heels.

The power of clothing is amazing, and I am in awe of it each and every day.

All I see are treasures

Sky blue top / Thrifted vintage
Gauze skirt / J.Crew (snatch it up here)
Multi-tone sandals / Charles by Charles David (find it here)
Earrings / Swarovski (gifted)

I have this fondness and admiration for those who can find new life in things that were once precious to another human being. That's why I'm always fascinated and enthralled when I visit flea markets, vintage shops, even goodwill.

A few years ago when I was still in college, I had this weekly (sometimes daily!) habit of hitting up all my favorite thrift/vintage shops in one go. I'd spend hours sorting through racks of clothing for that one piece that would make it all worthwhile. And sometimes I lucked out with a gem like this one.

This is one of my favorite vintage tops. It's a bit fragile as it's a loose knit of two colored strings. But I always feel the urge to wear it in the summer as the colors remind me of a summer sky spotted with puffy, white clouds. Despite how it looks, it's actually perfect for summer since the loose knit creates a holey effect on the top allowing you to feel the summer breeze. Just one of the reasons I love this top.
